Do not use chemical drain cleaners in a system that may overflow onto occupants or finishes.

Take one context photo, one close view and a short note describing location, date, weather, recent water use, equipment state and occupancy.
3. Track the trigger
The pump-out portion of a wash cycle.
4. Compare, do not assume

- Gurgling occurs elsewhere
- Slower discharge reduces the event
Weakens this pathway
- Water appears during fill instead
- The hose itself leaks
- The standpipe stays empty while the floor wets
5. Repeat only safe checks
- Observe one drain cycle from a dry safe position
- Note other fixture sounds
- Stop after the first overflow rather than repeating tests
6. Decide the next step
If the pattern is active, expanding, safety-related or requires opening inaccessible construction, stop self-help testing and prepare an evidence-based handoff. A plumber should evaluate the branch drain, venting and standpipe configuration.
7. Verify the outcome
After any action, repeat the same observation under a comparable trigger. A dry surface immediately after work is not sufficient proof when the original symptom was intermittent.
