Efflorescence vs surface growth
Dry crystals and soft organic growth require very different interpretations.
Concrete, brick, block and mortar surfaces
Cold corners, window reveals, damp finishes and poorly ventilated surfaces
After moisture passes through masonry and evaporates
After repeated high humidity or persistent surface dampness
Dry white crystalline powder that can return after cleaning
Speckled, patchy or soft growth that follows moisture-prone areas
Confirm crystalline texture and trace moisture source
Check texture, recurring moisture and whether the surface remains damp
Soft fuzzy organic material
Dry wipeable film aligned with air movement and no moisture history
Do not repair the resemblance. Verify the pathway.
Color and shape can overlap. Timing, location and a repeatable check usually carry more diagnostic weight.
