Define the question before measuring
Adding vents cannot compensate for large indoor air leaks, and air sealing cannot replace required roof ventilation.
Capture a useful baseline
Record the exact location, date, current weather or equipment state, recent activities and the first visible, audible, sensory or measurable change. Keep one unaffected reference point.

- Compare affected and unaffected roof sections
Compare supporting and weakening evidence

- Bypass points align with damage
- Vent openings are blocked or poorly distributed

- The attic is conditioned by design
- No moisture accumulation exists
Interpret the result conservatively
Look for a repeatable relationship between trigger, location, timing and change. Treat exceptions as useful evidence rather than forcing every event into one explanation.

Changes should follow the actual roof and attic design rather than a universal vent-count rule.
Close the loop
If work is performed, repeat the same observation under a comparable trigger and through the original lag window. Record both recurrence and non-recurrence events.
